BAR Storm Mid-Range Anchor
The BAR fires fast with very manageable recoil for an LMG, so it can trade evenly at mid range and still hold its own up close. The Storm variant favors handling and on-the-move shooting, which suits a slayer who rotates between Conquest flags instead of sitting on a bipod.

Why it's meta
The BAR M1918 is one of the most versatile automatic weapons in Battlefield 1, combining a high rate of fire with predictable recoil that carries past typical SMG and Assault ranges. In Conquest, most fights happen between 20 and 50m around flags, which is the BAR's sweet spot. The Support class adds sustain through ammo, and the HE crossbow and impact grenades give you answers to entrenched players. This lets one player win gunfights and also enable objective pushes.
Counters
- Scouts with long-range rifles at 80m+ who outrange your iron sights
- Close-range Assault or Medic players running SMGs in tight interiors who out-handle the BAR
- Heavy vehicle pressure from tanks and planes, since your Support kit has limited anti-armor
Playstyle tips
- 01Fire in short controlled bursts past 30m and let the weapon's spread reset. Hold full-auto only up close.
- 02Play the outer edge of a flag's capture radius and use cover. Let Assault players push the center while you clean up anyone who peeks.
- 03Drop an Ammo Crate as soon as you anchor a flag, then rotate to the next point when the cap flips.
- 04Use the HE crossbow on windows, balconies and rubble piles before pushing, then follow up with the BAR.
- 05Swap to the M1911 instead of reloading when someone is in your face. It's faster than the BAR reload.
